Fall for All

Bring the whole family to a morning at the Downtown Commons for Kids on the Green, the little ones can start the day with a hands-on experience with the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera.

If playing with real instruments isn’t enough to get the wiggles out, head around the block to the Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink and Celebrate the Art of Kindness! It’s all about community — you can donate non-perishable goods to Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services and take part in an interactive group art piece at the rink.

While in the area, stroll down K Street with the family and enjoy brunch in the friendly setting of Ambrosia Café.

Humanity and Habitats

Next, celebrate the beauty of Sacramento as seen through the eyes of local artist Steve Memering at Sparrow Gallery with “RE-views.” Memering captures the icons of the city in his unique style that many may be familiar with from his pieces hanging in the hallways of Raley Field and Sleep Train Arena. Also on display at Sparrow Gallery are the works of Susan Silvester and Sandy Whetstone (“Vanishing Act”) who express their concern for the environment and ever-disappearing natural habitats through pieces featuring animals both familiar and obscure.

Animals Abound!

If all those animals weren’t enough, you can venture east across the city to Midtown. The Tim Collom Gallery’s “Animalia Group Show” features 20 additional perspectives on animals from Sacramento artists.

Legendary Laughs

Round out the day with a special $9 play! The Legend of Georgia McBride centers around a struggling Elvis impersonator who must become a drag performer with the help of characters like Miss Anorexia Nervosa to make ends meet — as you may have guessed, hilarity ensues in this B Street performance!

Before the show, treat yourself to a drink and some of the fine dining found at Paragary’s Midtown.
