African American Experience Project

Make an impact in history. The City of Sacramento is seeking participation in its effort to document the history of African Americans in Sacramento. The public can participate by giving oral histories, and submitting documents or photographs.

Black History Month Self-Guided Tour
California Museum
Through Feb 28 | Tues-Fri 10am-5pm & Sun Noon-5pm

Focusing on themes of resilience, activism, democracy, and community, the Black History Month Self-Guided Tour explores various exhibits highlighting the influence of Black Americans in California and their contributions to state’s rich history.

Direct From Death Row: The Scottsboro Boys
Guild Theater
Feb 10-Mar 10 | Thu-Sat 8pm & Sun 2pm

The Scottsboro Boys reenact the events of a high-profile case of nine Black men who were wrongfully accused of a crime. The case highlighted the exploitation of racism by the two women who falsely accused these young Black men and the Communist Party’s exploitation of racism in its efforts to recruit African Americans.

Sacramento Juneteenth Black History Month Art Reception

Sacramento Juneteenth, Inc. invites you to attend the Black History Month Art Reception where some of Sacramento’s most talented artists have created American Black History themed pieces for its contest and auction.
