The temperatures may be rising but they won’t catch the heat the Sacramento art scene is providing this 2nd Saturday. There are some supremely awesome collaborations going on around town and I intend to inspect them all. Join me on my excursion to see some of the hottest events going on.
A Medley of Fun:
Before embarking on my 2nd Saturday excursion, I’ll fuel up at Identity Coffees for a hand-crafted coffee. While I sip my coffee I’ll be sure to peruse this month’s selection of Midtown Bizarre’s vendors. Then, I’ll head on over to CLARA for their open house; the center’s resident artists will be opening up their studios, showing off some art, and providing a bevy of fun activities for all.
Creative Professionals:
My second stop of the day will be at the Sparrow Gallery’s Art x Architects 2016 exhibition. Featuring the works of members and associates of the American Institute of Architects, these artists design beautiful building in their day jobs. Afterward, I’ll mozzy on over to the Midtown Biergarten to expand my brew horizons.
Tiny Treasures:
My next stop of the day will be checking out the fourth installment of DaDas Art Gallery Boutique’s MicroArtCollection IV. This edition features works of micro-sized paintings from Kathy Dana; these tiny works pack impressive details. DaDas will also be hosting Developmental Disabilities Service Organization’s Benefit Art Show this Second Saturday. For my midday snack, I’ll grub on Czech cuisine over at La Trattoria Bohemia.
Jazzed Up:
My final gallery stop of the day will be at the White Buffalo Gallery. All That Jazz which features the art of Rufus Chalmers. Chalmers’ recent work utilizes black, white, and gray to depict some of jazz’s most famous artists. To cheers to another successful 2nd Saturday, I’ll catch up on the Olympics and grab a pint at Bonn Lair.
