Santa visited Sacramento early and delivered some incredible art shows, just in time for the last Second Saturday of 2016. If you’re heading out this Saturday, make sure that you follow this roadmap to see some of the coolest exhibits around town!

Biggest Show Around Town:

My first must-see event of the day could possibly take all day long to fully explore. Big Show of Small Treasures, put on by Sacramento Visual Arts Collaborative, takes place at 11 galleries (ARTHOUSE, Artistic Edge Gallery, Brickhouse Art Gallery, DaDas Art Gallery Boutique, ITSA Studio, Little Relics, Patris Studio Gallery, Red Dot Gallery, Sparrow Gallery, and Tim Collom Gallery) across the region. At all of these galleries you’ll find small-scale works (12”x12” or under) from some of our region’s most acclaimed local artists.

The Year in Review:

Archival Framing and Gallery hosts my next exhibit stop, A December to Remember. This show features some works from 10 artists who all have vastly different styles. You’re sure to find something that makes this December one to remember. After checking out their artwork, I’ll head down the street to OBO Italian for a stracciatella cream puff.

Pop-up Philanthropy:

If you’re looking for a gift that benefits a great cause, then the Women’s Wisdom Art Second Saturday Pop-Up Gallery is perfect for you; stop by to see what these wonderful women have crafted up. Afterward, I’ll head over to Ryujin Ramen House to slurp a spicy bowl of spicy tonkotsu ramen.

Look Back to Look Forward:

I’ll be heading to the R St Corridor’s 1810 Gallery to check out the Art Hotel Group Show. Remember this year’s Art Hotel? This collection highlights some of the best works from the temporary installation. A perfect teaser for next year’s ArtStreet! You can catch me at the Shady Lady Saloon for a quick cocktail before my final stop.

Art to Aid:

Lastly, I’ll be perusing Fe Gallery to admire the talented artists of Short Center North. This show benefits the Developmental Disabilities Service Organization’s Short Center North and its efforts to provide arts programs for adults with developmental disabilities. Afterwards, I’ll close out my night with a pint from the Hoppy Brewing Company.
