Pence Gallery's Call to Artists is for its contemporary art juried exhibit is called Slice, and is open to all artists in California, and is juried by Rachel Clarke, Professor of Art at California State University Sacramento.

ELIGIBILITY AND MEDIA:
The Pence’s Slice exhibit, now in its 6th year, is open to California artists, and showcases work in all media that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art. Work may be in any medium, but must be 3’ wide maximum or under for wall work. There are no size restrictions for three-dimensional work. Work must not exceed 100 lb, and be ready to install. Accepted work should be original, completed within the past five years, and remain at Pence Gallery during the entire exhibit. Applicants must submit between 1-3 images of work for review, along with an artist statement, at www.callforentry.org, and pay a fee of $30/$35 for non-Pence members.

All submissions are due online by 5pm at www.callforentry.org on May 18, 2018.

DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED WORK:
Accepted work may be hand-delivered between June 17-18, or shipped and insured by the artist to the Pence. Expenses for shipping to and from the Gallery are the responsibility of the artist.

The exhibit is: June 22-Aug. 19, 2018.

JUROR:
This year’s juror is Rachel Clarke. Clarke is an artist and professor of new media art at California State University, Sacramento, CA. Her work intertwines themes of nature, culture, and technology; combining physical and virtual modes of making. It involves video and animation, installation, augmented reality, and experimental 3D design. She has shown at ISEA Vancouver BC, Canada; Another Year in LA gallery, Los Angeles, CA; Balance/Unbalance at Arizona State University, AZ; Ars Electronica, Linz, Austria; Aggregate Space, Oakland, CA; WORK Detroit, MI; and Currents International Festival in Santa Fe, NM. Clarke serves on the Board of the New Media Caucus and is the founding editor of their international journal, Media-N.
