The Ali Youssefi Project was created in memory of Ali by his family, in partnership with the Verge Center for the Arts. Ali Youssefi was a humanitarian and deep lover of art. He was dedicated to harnessing the power of a community through its people and this project aims to bridge his passions with his philanthropic spirit. ar

The Warehouse Artist Lofts were developed by Ali Youssefi to provide working artists an affordable place to live and create art in the heart of Sacramento. WAL is a mixed-use, transit-oriented community for Sacramento-area artists. Located in the Historic R Street district, WAL is close to many art-related businesses and galleries, including the WAL Residency artist studio at Verge Center for the Arts.

The WAL Residency:

The Warehouse Artist Lofts were developed by Ali Youssefi to provide working artists an affordable place to live and create art in the heart of Sacramento. WAL is a mixed-use, transit-oriented community for Sacramento-area artists. Located in the Historic R Street district, WAL is close to many art-related businesses and galleries, including the WAL Residency artist studio at Verge Center for the Arts.

The WAL Residency is a three-month, live-in residency with access to an artist work studio at Verge. WAL Artists in Residence will receive a $500 monthly stipend and will be invited to participate in the WAL community’s First Friday Open Studios. A travel stipend of $500 is available. The residency will culminate in a group residency exhibition at Verge Gallery.

The WAL Artist Residency is open to artists nationwide, at least 35 miles away from Sacramento.

Please note: Applicants for the WAL residency will need to provide proof of permanent residence beyond a 35-mile radius of Sacramento. WAL applicants are subject to background check upon residency acceptance.

The VERGE Residency:

Verge Center for the Arts is the leading cultural institution in the Sacramento region for contemporary art and ideas. Their mission is to extend the dialogue about contemporary art to the central valley. Verge supports this mission by providing vital resources to local career and emerging artists as well as offering arts education opportunities for youth and adults.

The Verge Residency provides a 6-month studio space at Verge. The Verge resident will receive a $500 monthly stipend and will be invited to participate in Verge programing. The residency will culminate in a group residency exhibition at Verge Gallery.

The VERGE Artist Residency is open to artists within a 35-mile radius of Sacramento.

-Letter of interest: Include why you are specifically seeking an AYP residency, where you currently make your artwork, what you hope to accomplish while in this program, and how you will use the Verge gallery space for your residency exhibit.
-Your Resume or CV
-References: Only include names, relationship, email addresses, and phone numbers of three professional references. Letters will not be accepted.
-Image List: Include Title, Media, Dimensions, and Date
-Upload a ZIP file which includes: 10 images of your artwork created within the last three years. The ZIP file may not exceed 10mg. Youtube links are required for video works and should be emailed to info@vergeart.com after the application has been submitted.
-Pay the $25 dollar application fee.
