Sacramento Juneteenth, Inc will host its 18th Annual Juneteenth Festival on June 19, 2021 in William Land Park. Juneteenth is the national celebration of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Nearly 8,000 people attend this 2-day event. As part of this year’s festival we will host the Arts and Education Pavilion. We’re seeking youth (high school) and adult artists to submit original pieces to participate in a Juneteenth-themed art exhibition. Three artists will be selected to participate.

Selected artists will display their pieces in the Pavilion with Juneteenth staff selecting the winning pieces. Winning participants will be awarded cash prizes and recognized during the event program. Those not selected for the exhibit may still have an opportunity to display their art in the pavilion.

Criteria:
-All art mediums welcome organizers will provide easels
-Art should have a strong Juneteenth/Black History theme
-Please go to SacramentoJuneteenthINC.org click on the Education tab and read the history of Juneteenth
-Works submitted must include contact information, art titles, date of artwork, size of artwork, (inches) medium, dimensions, price, and special installation requirements to be considered.
-Artists must deliver artwork by the due date and remain on festival grounds.
-Works submitted must be available throughout the entire day. No early breakdowns/pickups allowed. (including any artwork sold)

Submission:
-Artists may submit a maximum of 2 original pieces of artwork online to be considered with a brief description of art and any special requirements. Email pictures of art and submission brief to: juneteenthartistcall@gmail.com submissions must be jpg/pdf format.

Timeline:
-June 7 at 11:59pm: Deadline to submit works to be considered
-June 12: Selection of Artist
-June 19: Artwork due for installation by 7:30am and may be picked up at 6pm (end of festival)
-June 19: Juneteenth Festival
