Sacramento Office of Arts and Culture grants and regrants public dollars. Agency programs are open to all eligible artists and arts organizations that wish to apply for a grant. Please read each program's guidelines to verify eligibility. Each application is treated with the same transparent professionalism that exists in all of our processes. Office of Arts and Council staff enforce equal access and inclusiveness as they facilitate the evaluation process through peer review panels. Funding decisions are not made by staff.

For those of you who are new to this program, here are a few things to keep in mind:
-With additional support from Sacramento County, CAA grants are open to both city and county based organizations.
-CAA grants are awarded on a 3-year cycle, so a funded application in 2022 allows you to receive subsequent grants – funds permitting – in 2023 and 2024 without reapplying.
-This is a grant specifically for non-profit arts and cultural organizations with current non-profit status.
-CAA funds are for general operating purposes; funds can be spent on rent, staff, artists, and other general operating costs.

For those of you who are returning to the program, here are some changes this year:
-There is no match requirement for grants this year. We know you’ve been through an extremely difficult 18 months and we don’t want to add an extra burden at this time
-We are not requiring a DataArts report for the application, unless you did not submit your 2020 report as part of your 2020 grant, which you’ll need to complete as part of your eligibility requirement.
-We are only accepting applications from non-profit organizations; fiscally sponsored organizations cannot apply to this program. We will, however, have other funding opportunities available for these organizations soon.
-You must be an arts and/or cultural organization to apply. The only exception is if you are a college or university with a public educational component, and then you may apply based on the budget and activities for your arts programming only.
-And perhaps the most significant change is the implementation of a funding rubric that the peer review panel will use to score applications. Use of this rubric – which centers Diversity Equity and Inclusion; Artistic Impact, Community Impact and Organizational Accountability – will allow panelists to match their scoring to the areas we feel are most vital in strengthening the rich ecosystem of arts and culture in Sacramento.

The deadline to apply is January 21, 2022.
