Cynthia Speakman

Cynthia Speakman has been an actor and performer in Sacramento since 1993. She has performed on numerous stages and for 10 years was a member of the StoryVoices ensemble. Speakman, who holds a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education, founded the OnStage Theatre Arts program at Leonardo da Vinci School in 2000. OnStage, an afterschool program where the plays are written with the students, is now at several schools and provides summer camps for kids age 5-14. Since 2005 she has worked with the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission in the Any Given Child program in the Twin Rivers , Robla and Sacramento City School Districts and with the Model Arts Program for Robla School District. Additionally, Cynthia has participated in various teaching artist workshops offered through the Kennedy Center and SMAC. She uses improv and storytelling to guide children in re-discovering their creativity and learning about theatre arts.
