The History of Night Photography (Photography Mont...

Presented by Viewpoint Photographic Art Center and Photography Month Sacramento at Viewpoint Photographic Art Center

Workshop leader Tim Baskerville, Director of The Nocturnes, sheds new light on some of the seldom seen innovators/pioneers of the genre -- as well as current practitioners of night photography in the digital era.

The practice of photographing at night did not begin with DSLRs and the phenomenon of Flickr. From the very beginnings of photography, adventurous souls have overcome numerous technical obstacles, producing haunting imagery that evoked the almost primordial draw of the nocturne. As night photographers find themselves in another period of enormous technical change, it is important to investigate, study, and understand the long history of night photography.

This three-hour course includes detailed PowerPoint presentations, lecture handouts, and discussion of current and historical  sources non-night photography.

This intensive workshop is limited to 16 lucky participants.

Note: This event is part of Photography Month Sacramento.
