Visiting lecturer at CSUS and freelance writer Pete Brook will be discussing the role photography can play in relation to the US penal system. Brook will ask us to consider how photography has, and can, act as a tool of revelation and agency for those within this vast and mostly invisible industrial system? Brook's writing has appeared widely, including in the British Journal of Photography, Wired, The New York Times, and The Atlantic. He is the author of the website, Prison Photography, a locus for information and critical discourse on the subject of photography and it's role in the penal system.
This event is part of Photography Month Sacramento.
Note: Lecture will be held in the Design Department Gallery (Mariposa Room 4000E).
