This event is the presentation of a Certificate of Completion to Brown Issues Latina Youth Leadership Institute 2018-2019 and their mural unveiling.
The mural is the result of eleven teenage girls who came together under the leadership of visiting visual artist/muralist Ruby Chacón. They met after school, talked about the reasons they felt compelled to join Brown Issues. Slowly, what became The Esperanza Project, came into being. In the five months it took to create the giant portable mural being unveiled, deep friendships came to be, a team was created - a life-changing experience sealed forever in paint.
