Big Sing! California

Big Sing! California

Presented by Sacramento Choral Society & Orchestra at SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center

The Los Angeles Master Chorale invited SCSO Conductor Donald Kendrick to serve as the Sacramento region conductor for a mammoth statewide singing event, Big Sing California. This thrilling event is due to set a record statewide on July 21 in California for drawing together one of the largest, free group singing performances in our history.

American superstar composer Eric Whitacre will help lead this exhilarating event which will be simulcast out of Disney Hall in Los Angeles to five California hubs: Sacramento, San Francisco, Fresno, Riverside and San Diego.

Join over 10,000 singers for the biggest choral event in California state history! Singers will perform choral masterworks like Morten Lauridsen's "Dirait-on" and Eric Whitacre's "Sleep," alongside popular favorites like "Lean On Me," Pentatonix's "Sing," the Beatles' "Hey Jude," and many, many more.

Eric Whitacre, Swan Family Artist-in-Residence, hosts this live choral concert with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and 2,000 audience singers at Walt Disney Concert Hall, which will simultaneously be broadcast to five California satellite venues, including Sacramento's Community Center Theater, where choirs will be assembled and singing with each other in real-time. In addition, the concert will be live-streamed online for anyone in the world to watch – and sing along. And best of all, it's absolutely free.

This project is generously supported through a significant grant from the Irvine Foundation, with additional support from the California Arts Council and several generous individual donors.
