Summer One-Act Festival

Presented by Teatro Espejo at Wilkerson Theatre

Teatro Espejo presents its annual Summer One-Act Festival.

"Ruben" by Andrew Siañez De La O
Famed Mexican-American journalist Ruben Salazar has a long history of writing for the LA Times, covering stories such as the American occupation of the Dominican Republic, the war in Vietnam, and the Tlatelolco Massacre in Mexico City, all leading up to his death at the Chicano Moratorium in LA in 1970. Told from his point of view, "Ruben" explores the need for journalism that covers the stories of all those oppressed.

"Dance Again: A Brief Choreopoem for the Brown Boys of Orlando" by Emilio Rodriguez
"Three men enter a gay bar on Saturday June 11, 2016. They bond over their love of music, magic, men and being gay AF and ultimately remind us that the worst thing we can do in the wake of a tragedy is to forget it." A beautiful homage to the lives of Pulse Orlando, set to J-Lo, with a twist of Spice Girls!

"manCHILD" by Ike Torres
Torres presents "fatBOY," part of his hilarious and heart aching solo show, “manCHILD.” Filled with emotion and physical comedy, Torres bares his soul while inviting us to join him on a journey of self-awareness and ninja moves.

Note: Plays are primarily in English with some Spanish.
