Akinto invites you to participate in its debut event -- a reading and release party for Disparate Housewives, a feminist zine. The evening will consist of an open mic session, a community reading of the zine, and a collaborative zine making endeavor. Bring your texts, images, cooperative spirit, and glue to contribute to this creative process. Akinto will also provide source texts and zine making supplies.

Open mic performances will begin as soon as the list is full, with six slots for 5 minutes each. All forms of creative expression are welcome, given that they foster a respectful environment.

Akinto connects what is like and unlike. It makes kin with everything it touches, morphing every time it gathers. This quarterly(ish) series in Sacramento brings together people who create things to see what happens when we create together. Each gathering will be like and unlike what came before it -- from traditional readings to unpredictable happenings.
