The final exhibit of the semester will feature works by Sacramento State Alumna, Franceska Gamez in the University Union Gallery.
Gamez was born in Manilla, Philippines and immigrated to the United States at Age 5. As a child, she had always known she would become an artist because of her passion for art. Her upcoming exhibit will feature different art mediums including sculptures, clay works, paintings, and more. She believes art is a universal language for storytelling. According to Gamez, she explains how art creates identity, navigate life, and share history. From her work, she wants her audience to feel “uplifted, limitless, and to have discovered something new after taking a moment with (her art).”
“I’m a sucker for detail and easily fall in love with nuances,” said Gamez in an email. “My sculpture is inspired by play and the unknown. It’s also inspired by the conversation between air and space, and how meaningless objects assert themselves to become part of a meaningful whole.”
