The Basics of Backyard Composting Workshop

The Basics of Backyard Composting Workshop

Presented by UCCE Master Gardeners of Sacramento County at UC Cooperative Extension Building (Sacramento County)

It is easy and fun to recycle your fruit and vegetable scraps, leaves, and plant cuttings into compost! Composting provides rewarding results with little physical effort. When added to your soil it helps retain moisture resulting in a lower water bill. Use it to prevent soil erosion, to suppress weeds and to loosen clay and compacted soils.

The UCCE Master Gardeners of Sacramento County will provide a hands-on demonstration on how to build an active compost pile. You will learn about the different methods for composting and find out if “hot” composting is the right choice for you.

Class participants will receive a free compost bin and educational materials.
