Paint Still Life and Architecture

Paint Still Life and Architecture

Presented by Crocker Art Museum at Crocker Art Museum

Edwin Deakin’s paintings represent an aesthetic evolution in California art, and the subjects of his paintings at the Crocker range from decorative objects to intimate nature settings. For this class, the focus will be on Deakin’s specialty: still life against stone walls. Students will spend time sketching in the galleries and painting in the studios as they render architecture and still life subjects. Participants will gain skill in acrylic painting and use established guidelines to portray realistic scenes.

Patris left the education profession in 2004 to pursue her art full-time. She has recently been juried into several national plein air painting competitions and her work is in many private and public collections. She served on the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and is a member of the California Art Club, the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and Landscape Artists International.
