Join your fellow artists, food equity advocates, and community members for a mural unveiling and celebration at the Oak Park Art Garden on 14th and MLK Blvd in Sacramento!
The group will be revealing a bilingual public art piece that bridges art and activism by informing CalFresh/food stamp recipients that they can use their benefits to purchase healthy, local food at farmers’ markets.
This project boosts the Sacramento region's creative ecosystem, helps ensure that our Farm-to-Fork bounty benefits low-income and Spanish-speaking residents, supports public health, and puts more money in the pockets of local farmers. The South Oak Park CalFresh Sign is a project of the Sacramento Food Policy Council with funding provided by CREATIVE EDGE and Capsity, and in partnership with Alchemist Community Development Corporation, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, Valley Vision, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento, and many others!
The installation is one component of SFPC's continuing campaign to increase CalFresh/food stamp utilization at Sacramento County farmers markets.
