Curious about one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century? From his time at Juilliard and the symphonic orchestration of 1949's Birth of the Cool to his Grammy-winning but controversial pop-influenced recordings of the 1980s, Miles Davis' life both reflected and drove American music for over four decades. Join Sacramento-based musicologist Jimi Michiel for a guided listening session and in-depth discussion as we explore the life and work of one of America's great artists.
Jimi Michiel is a Sacramento-based musicologist and trumpet player. He has performed with a wide variety of ensembles around the country, including the New York String Orchestra, Hot Springs Festival Orchestra and the Brandeis New Music Ensemble.
