Historian and former Interpretive Specialist for California State Parks Mary Helmich will present a lecture based on her recently completed comprehensive history of Sacramento’s Central and Southern Pacific Shops developed after more than nine years of historical research. Once the largest industrial complex west of the Mississippi River, today it is Sacramento’s largest redevelopment project.
Timed to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Sacramento History Museum -- in partnership with the California State Railroad Museum, Center for Sacramento History, and the Crocker Art Museum -- is proud to present the Gold Spike Lecture Series that will take place April through September 2019.
