Gold Spike Lecture: California's Complicated Relationship with the Railroad

Presented by Sacramento History Museum at California State Railroad Museum

William Deverell, author and historian specializing in California and the American West, will present a fascinating lecture about the complex relationship between the railroad and the Golden State. Deverell is also the Director, Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West, Professor of History, USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Science, and author of Railroad Crossing: Californians and the Railroad 1850-1910.

Timed to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Sacramento History Museum -- in partnership with the California State Railroad Museum, Center for Sacramento History, and the Crocker Art Museum -- is proud to present the Gold Spike Lecture Series that will take place April through September 2019.
