Join in welcoming one of the nation’s leading expert on Latino health, David Hayes-Bautista, PhD., who will present the surprising facts about Cinco de Mayo.

During his May 1 presentation, Cinco De Mayo, An American Tradition, Dr. Hayes-Bautista will explain how the holiday was created by Latinos in California during the mid-nineteenth century and how its meaning of has shifted over time. Today, the holiday continues to reflect the aspirations of a community that is engaged, empowered, and expanding.
