Sacramento Blues in the Schools Big Day of Giving Student Showcase

Presented by Sacramento Blues Society and Sacramento Blues in the Schools at Stoney Inn Rockin' Rodeo

If the kid in you remembers the first spark that lit up your learning, remembers the teacher that took extra time to encourage you, in fact -- if you can recall the way you found to express yourself as an individual -- then you know how much that shaped the person you became.

On May 2, student musicians from the Sacramento area will bring their A game in a BIG Day of Giving evening of live blues and community.

With generous, joyous, dedicated hearts and hands, Sacramento Blues members are the backbone of just about every great Sacramento blues show. As an all volunteer non profit, SBS brings great talent to Sacramento, cultivates local blues musicians, and through Blues in the Schools (BITS) Programs, builds emotionally intelligent, blues loving, student leaders of tomorrow.

The BITS Program is multi-faceted according to the particular need. It can be a six week afterschool program culminating in a Blues Showcase in a local club. It can be a single presentation for students at a civic location like the Crocker Museum. It can be a songwriting competition in county-run schools that serve incarcerated youth, teens on probation and/or students expelled from their home districts -- clearly, youth at risk who need a positive force in their lives.
