Che Apalache is an exciting four-man string band from Buenos Aires with members from Argentina, Mexico, and the United States. Their “Latingrass” style mixes South American music and Bluegrass, and their repertoire ranges from vivid Latin rhythms to acappella mountain gospel songs sung in four-part harmony. Evoking images from Appalachia to the Andes, their concerts are a testament to a powerful cultural and musical exchange.
Since 2018 the band has toured coast-to-coast, had a feature on All Things Considered, and recorded a new album produced by Bela Fleck, the banjo virtuoso, who has taken them under his wing. The music explores many new facets, including the realities of immigration that Latin Americans face. While the record will not be released until August, Che Apalache will be performing their new repertoire at the Sofia show.
