Join in for this annual celebration of Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. The Emancipation Proclamation, which ended slavery in the United States, was signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. The Juneteenth Reception serves as Sacramento’s premiere Juneteenth kick-off event.
