Adele Shaw turns to local scenes for many of her paintings -- Putah Creek, Green River, Yolo Wildlife Preserve, and Lake Berryessa. These reflect the atmospheric qualities of the great Sacramento Valley. Her recent two-month artist residency in Baja, Mexico, set the stage for other delightful paintings. This tropical setting perfectly matched her love of the natural world and all its secrets. Using a unique combination of watercolor and encaustic mediums, she catches the spirit and colors of both our landscape and the tropics. The translucent texture of wax enhances the softness of watercolor. Adele's paintings may prompt you to explore the countryside or jet off to a land of sea, shore and sand.
