An impressionable teenage girl (Sissy Spacek) from a dead-end town and her older greaser boyfriend (Martin Sheen) embark on a killing spree in the South Dakota badlands.
Loosely based on a true story, Badlands, directed by Terrence Malick, is often cited by film critics as one of the greatest and most influential films of all time. The film was also notable for its lyrical photography, and its music, which includes pieces by Carl Orff. In 1993, the film was selected for preservation by the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
