Team Hope Walk: Huntington's Disease Northern CA Chapter

Presented by Huntington's Disease Society of America - Northern California Chapter at River Walk Park

The Northern California Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America will hold its 10th annual Team Hope Walk at River Walk Park in West Sacramento. This will be a fun-filled community event to educate the public about Huntington’s Disease (HD) and help families that are facing the challenges with HD.

Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a genetic, neurodegenerative brain disorder that typically begins to impair victims between the ages of 30-50. There are thousands of diagnosed cases in the U.S. every year and many more at risk. Children of those affected have a 50 percent chance of having the defective gene. It has been described as having Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS at the same time! Currently there is no cure for this dreadful disease that destroys the body, mind, and spirit over a 10-20 year period.

HDSA is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for Huntington’s Disease, while providing support and services for those living with HD and their families. HDSA promotes and supports both clinical and basic HD research, funds support groups to aid families in coping with the devastation of HD, and educates families, the public, and health care professionals.
