The Latino Center of Art and Culture, Sacramento’s non-profit Latino art and cultural center, is proud to announce the new exhibition, "La Lucha: Convergence of Identity." This important first-time exhibition in the Center was conceived by noted long-time LCA+C photographer Andres Alvarez. The interactive exhibition will examine, through the lens of Lucha Libre, what identities we are given and what we choose. Alvarez and the five other participating artists, examine through photos, collage art, paintings, and drawings the many labels/masks people carry now: Mexican-American, Latino, Latinx, American, Chicano, Chicanx, and Afro-Latino.
Alvarez is a storyteller through his art and he wants to encourage conversation and participation, particularly at the opening night event. There will be a DJ, traditional food and drinks at the Center's tree-shaded outdoor grounds.
