The Sacramento Nichiren Buddhist Church is taking orders now for its annual Fall Food Sale. This is a pre-sale event. Orders will be available for pickup at the church on 10/12, from 11am-Noon.

Fall Food Sale Items:
-Agesushi: What some people call “brown bags” filled with rice. It’s actually seasoned fried tofu filled with rice. The church cooks normally put sesame seeds and grated cooked carrots in with the rice.
-Barasushi: Mixed rice. Has the same stuff as regular sushi but it’s all mixed together – no nori. Seasoned rice with some egg, shitake mushrooms, kanpyo (gourd), peas, red ginger.
-Bento: Traditional bento holds rice or noodles, fish or meat, with pickled and cooked vegetables, in a box. The church bento is somewhat ad lib. The cooks decide the contents on the day the bento is prepared.
-Curry rice: Spicy yellow curry sauce, pork and steamed rice.
Ruby’s Chicken Salad: A Japanese adaptation of traditional Chinese chicken salad.
-Spam Musubi: Made with, you guessed it, Spam cooked in teriyaki sauce and rolled into a sushi roll.
-Teriyaki Beef Sandwich: The same sauce as the chicken with sliced beef, (mayo, mustard, and marinated onions) and stuffed into a bread roll.
Teriyaki Chicken: A half-chicken marinated overnight in sauce and barbecued the day of the sale. The chicken is chopped into pieces and stuffed into to-go boxes.
-Udon: A large noodle soup. The toppings vary each year. Shown in the photo are Kamaboko (aka fish cake), green onions, Shiitake mushroom, egg.

Mail-in orders close 9/23. Online orders open until 10/9.
