Portable Printing Lab: Screen Printing

Portable Printing Lab: Screen Printing

Presented by Verge Center for the Arts at Verge Center for the Arts

The Portable Printmaking Lab, PPL, trailer will arrive at Verge on September 28th and October (T.B.D). Once on-site the trailer will fold out to create a mobile printmaking studio where students can learn the basics of screen printing. Instructor Peter Foucault will teach you how to set up your workstation, how to prep and register paper, how to ink up your screen, and finally how to pull a successful print. He will also provide information on what materials you will need to set up your own screen printing station at home. This class is designed for all skill levels from beginners to working artists who want to learn this medium. We will provide 10x12in screens for students to work with, if you would like to create a larger image please bring your own screen. We will also have demos set up using larger pre-burned screens to create customized interactive posters.

About the instructor:
Foucault has participated in numerous exhibitions nationwide and internationally at venues such as the Getty Museum and Getty Villa, Oakland Museum of California,Torrance Art Museum, California Museum, San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, K. Imperial Fine Art, Room Art Gallery, Smithsonian Institutes’ Freer and Sackler Gallery, Kit Schulte Contemporary (Berlin, Germany), The University of Salford (Manchester, England), and The Orange County Center for Contemporary Art. In addition to his own practice, Foucault is the Co-Founder of the Mobile Arts Platform (MAP), a Bay Area based artmaking and curatorial team that creates interactive “pop-up” mobile exhibitions that directly engage the public. The MAP project was included in the American Association of Museums 2012 annual reports’ “Trends Watch.”
