Dia de los Muertos Youth Art Pop Up

Join Sojo Museum to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a Mexican tradition celebrating and honoring the lives of relatives and ancestors past.

Please bring a photo of an ancestor you would like to honor to create miniature altars, enjoy Aztec dancers, African drumming, paint a Sugar Skull/Flower waste basket, create tissue paper flowers, create a Frida Kahlo Mexican Flower Crown Headband, Sugar Skull Day of the Dead nail art, enjoy painting a Chihuahua Dia De Los Muertos Acrylic painting and a Sugar Skull coloring project.

Kids will also enjoy decorating Sugar Skull cookies and making Mexican Hot Chocolate. Kids will love decorating a Sugar Skull balloon, making a Day of the Dead Sugar Skull paper plate craft, creating a glow-in-the-dark Day of the Dead lantern, Sugar Skull face make up, Dead of the Dead noise maker, and love painting a Frida Kahlo painting. Other entertainment will include a pop up visit by Spider-Man, a magic show by Forest Barnes, and a special performance by a youth jazz band called Black Magic. Kids will enjoy a video game station, lip gloss station, games, Baton Twirling workshops and engagement in African Modern dance lessons taught by instructor Laila Shabazz and inspired by Katherine Duham. Lastly, free dinner is provided and free raffle tickets for everyone.
