International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers

International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers

Presented by Sex Workers Outeach Project Sacramento at SANE

The Sex Workers Outeach Project, Sacramento presents this potluck dinner, march, and vigil to remember the loved ones lost.

This year has been an extremely deadly year for both sex workers and trafficking victims. With the loss of resources there has been an uptick in violence and and increase in the marginalization of POC and Trans populations. Sex Workers, allies, and advocates will come together to make sure those who are no longer with us aren't forgotten. Light a candle, sing a song, or simply stand in solidarity to demand an end to violence against our most marginalized.

There will be food, survival supplies for those who need them, and community. You are encouraged to bring a red umbrella or a candle.

Additional time info:

Each year on December 17th we gather worldwide to mourn those we lost this year and in their honor, renew our commitment to the ongoing struggle for empowerment, visibility, and rights of all sex workers.

We also renew our commitment to solidarity. The majority of violence against sex workers is not just violence against sex works—it’s also violence against transwomen, against women of color, against drug users, against immigrants. We cannot end the marginalization and victimization of all sex workers without also fighting trans-phobia, racism, stigma and criminalization of drug use, and xenophobia.

Join us this December 17th. You are invited to bring a red umbrella, a story about a loved one in the sex trade that is no longer with us, something for the pot luck, or simply come as you are and enjoy a hot meal and good company as we stand together in honor of those no longer with us.
