This unique non-sale exhibition pairs the bold zen-like black and white abstractions of Franz Kline (1910-1962), the New York Abstract Expressionist, with a collection of comics by various cartoonists, curated from the Wayne Thiebaud Foundation. Kline’s fast-paced calligraphic brush stroke and interest in positive/negative space is paired alongside the “daily” of comics whose simplification of physiognomic types in emblematic settings continue the grand tradition of picture-making.
