Ways with Watercolor

Learn the basics of watercolor painting by working with a transparent medium, using techniques for painting wet washes, and studying the mixture of harmonious hues. Participants will compose small studies in watercolor and leave with completed enlargements of their own.

No experience is required unless noted. The Museum provides student-quality supplies included in the fee unless indicated otherwise.

Instructor Kristine Bybee is a native of Sacramento and was educated in Los Angeles. She regularly exhibits her paintings in local and regional galleries, most recently at the Pence Gallery in Davis, and her work is in private and corporate collections. She is an art educator at the community college level and maintains an active practice of producing work for exhibition. Bybee will teach Beginning Color Theory. 2019 update: Kristine Bybee is an art instructor in Sacramento with over twenty years of teaching experience. Bybee taught a wide range of art classes including Color Theory and Graphic Design at Cal State Sacramento and Cosumnes River College before joining the Crocker Art Museum Education department as a painting, drawing, and color theory instructor. Kristine Bybee is a graduate of Art Center College in Los Angeles and UC Davis. After an award winning graphic design career at The Sacramento Bee, Bybee began a fine arts career that includes many exhibitions in local and regional galleries. Recently, she extended her experience nationally and exhibited at The Woodbury Museum at the University of Utah, The Haggin Museum in Stockton and The Hangar Gallery in Los Angeles.
