Introduccion Basica al Espanol y al Arte (Cancelled)

Presented by Crocker Art Museum at Crocker Art Museum

NOTE: The Crocker Art Museum is temporarily closed to the public, and all programs, tours, classes, and events through April 30 have been postponed or cancelled.

The Crocker and Casa de Espanol are partnering to offer adults a six-week course in basic conversation, vocabulary, greetings and present-tense conjugation of verbs through art discussions and interaction. Join the Crocker for this fun way to build Spanish and visual literacy skills!

Co-Instructor Crystal Ruiz has a BA in Art Education from CSU Sacramento, and has been an educator for the Crocker for several years, working both on-site as well as with various school districts in the region.

Co-Instructor María Esperanza Harrington is founder, owner and director of CASA de ESPAÑOL, Center for Language and Culture (CASA). She received her B.A. in Spanish and International Relations from Holy Names University (HNU) in 2004 and her M.A. in Latin American Studies from UC Berkeley in 2007. Before founding CASA in 2011, María was a board member for East Bay Sanctuary and she worked as a Spanish instructor at HNU and Saint Mary’s College High School, where she received the Lasallian Educator of the Year Medal in 2011. In 2014, she received the Young Alumni of the Year Award and in 2015 the Durocher Award from Holy Names University for her philanthropy and service to the community through her non-profit organization Help Chiapas and the community outreach offered at CASA. Today, she continues to coordinate cultural events, lead international trips, build curricula and teach Spanish at CASA de ESPAÑOL.
