Mixed Media: Collage and Acrylic Painting

Mixed Media: Collage and Acrylic Painting

Presented by Crocker Art Museum at Crocker Art Museum

Explore mixed media in a class inspired by Mickalene Thomas, a contemporary African American artist known for rhinestone encrusted portrait paintings. Learn the basics of acrylic painting: color complements, tints and shades. After experimenting with color mixing and techniques, paint an acrylic work on canvas. Then select from a variety of material, including rhinestones to add to one's painting.

Instructor Shonna McDaniels is the Founder and Director of the Sojourner Truth Multicultural Art Museum. She is a professional artist/muralist and has an extensive background in art instruction and mural designs.
