Contemporary Monotype with Image Transfers

Contemporary Monotype with Image Transfers

Presented by Crocker Art Museum and Photography Month Sacramento at Crocker Art Museum

Monotypes lend themselves to achieving dynamic layers and juxtaposition of images. Create experimental and spontaneous monotypes using water-based inks on plexiglass plates. Once participant's monotypes are complete, transfer copies of their own drawings, black and white photographs, and other printed media directly and seamlessly on top! Instructor Carrie Markel An art educator for over twenty years, Carrie has taught teachers and students in painting, mixed media and printmaking. In 2015, Markel was a finalist for Arts Educator of the Year award given by the Arts and Business Council of Sacramento. She has traveled with her students to Washington D.C. to present an original visual performance on the Kennedy Center stage. In 2009 the One Voice project took the artist to Turkey, where she collaborated with educators on a multi-media production themed around tolerance and peace. Carrie earned her BS in Fine Art and design from Sacramento State University and holds a California teaching credential.

This exhibition takes place, in part, during Photography Month Sacramento.
