This two-hour presentation will take you on a journey from the United States to as far away as Africa to learn about photographing big cats in their natural environments. This presentation will enhance your understanding of the differences and similarities between lions, leopards, cheetahs, and tigers, and how they struggle to survive. Wildlife photographer Lynne Edwards will share a travel movie of her favorite images of these amazing cats; the stories behind them; some data and research about the struggles facing these incredible creatures; and suggestions on how they can be helped.
Lynne’s presentation will include key topics needed to think about before setting out on a domestic or international trip to photograph Big Cats so that the experience can fulfill one’s objectives. If you have dreamed about photographing Big Cats in their natural environment – in countries like Africa, India, and South America– there is so much to plan and prepare for so that your experiences and final photographs are ones you will always cherish.
Traveling to faraway places is not always available to everyone, so Lynne will also share information about places one may go to see, photograph, and learn about the issues some of these big cats face at various rescue centers in California and elsewhere in the United States.
Lynne Edwards is an award-winning photographer from El Dorado Hills. She won Best in Wildlife Category in the 2017 Annual Julia Margaret Cameron International Competition for Women Photographers with “The Chase,” her photograph of a cheetah in full pursuit. Lynne has been a member of Gold Country Artists Gallery since 2014.
This event is part of Photography Month Sacramento.
