Come celebrate community and the coming of Spring at the fifth annual Davis Cherry Blossom Festival at the Sudwerk Dock Store in Davis.

The free, public festival features taiko performances, cultural demonstrations, mochi pounding, a local artist gallery, family-friendly crafts and activities, an exclusive beer release, and a charity concert to raise money for this year's recipient: Tsuru for Solidarity, a direct-action organization standing up for immigrant rights.

"Cherry Blossom Festivals" are springtime celebrations in Japanese American communities, stemming from two traditions: hanami ("flower viewing:" a seasonal observance of the beauty of spring) and hanamatsuri ("flower festival:" a Buddhist celebration of Gautama Buddha's birthday). The festival seeks to build community and celebrate diversity through the shared experience of a folk festival as well as take a stand for an annual charity working for greater social or environmental justice.

The Davis Cherry Blossom Festival is produced by the 501(c)3 organization "Davis Cherry Blossom Festival" and Bakuhatsu Taiko Dan, in partnership with Sudwerk Brewing Company, who generously donates a portion of all their sales to our annual charity. The festival is supported, in part, by a grant from the City of Davis Arts and Cultural Affairs Program as well as other sponsors.
