Trademark Law for Artists and Attorneys

Presented by California Lawyers for the Arts at Online/Virtual Space

Are you unsure about whether you have a trademark and what you can do to protect it? Are you planning on using someone else’s trademark in your art? Are you starting a business and want to trademark your logo? Are you an attorney interested in learning more about this area of intellectual property or how to guide a client through the process? This workshop will provide an overview of trademark law, including selecting trademarks, how to search for potentially conflicting trademarks, registering and maintaining trademarks, and more. Whether you have an existing trademark or are new to the concept of intellectual property and simply want to begin learning, this workshop can help with what you need to know.

Speaker Mark Leonard is General Counsel for Jelly Belly Candy Company. Mr. Leonard is responsible for all company litigation and all legal matters related to intellectual property, e-commerce, inbound and outbound licensing, marketing, international distributors, and ingredient and packaging regulatory compliance. Prior to this, Mr. Leonard was a partner in a boutique law firm specializing in areas of trademark, copyright, e-commerce, litigation and art-law to clients throughout California, the United States and around the world.
