Pop-aganda Part II

Pop-aganda Part II

Presented by Crocker Art Museum at Online/Virtual Space

Art is not neutral. Or, as George Orwell famously declared: All art is propaganda. Learn how the Pop Art masters addressed the political and social issues of their time using the iconography of pop culture with artist Milton Bowens. Discover how colors can reinforce meaning in art and how text can guide the viewer's eye within the composition. Then, after roundtable brainstorming discussion, compose a popular cover, advertisement, or composition based on a stereotype or social issue. The program also includes a discussion with the artist on current social issues and how contemporary artists are responding.

Bowens will be available to guide participants along every step. There will also be an opportunity for participants to share their completed acrylic paintings during the final session. Beginners are welcome.
