Be a Hero for the Homeless Virtual 5k Walk/Run

Presented by Joshua's House Hospice at Online/Virtual Space

You've heard the word that so many are using these days...pivot. It's necessary to be flexible in these uncertain times, and to find new and creative ways to raise funds. And that's exactly what Joshua's House is doing! Since it cannot hold the in-person fall fundraiser in 2020 as planned, it's completely pivoted and created a new event. Introducing the "Be a Hero for the Homeless" Virtual 5K Walk/Run.

Set for Saturday, October 17, runners or walkers can actually do it whenever they choose - how convenient is that! The only rule on timing is that the run or walk must take place after registration and before the end of day on October 17. Families can run or walk together, and we encourage friends, extended families, and coworkers to challenge each other.

Fundraising pages can even be set up for workplace, friends and family, or competitive teams. And the best part, 100% of proceeds go to Joshua's House Hospice for the terminally ill. The fundraising goal is $100,000 which will be an incredible help to offset the nearly $800,000 it needs to break ground on construction.

Joshua’s House Hospice for the terminally ill homeless hopes to open its doors in Spring of 2021. Due to an increase in construction costs and the impact of COVID-19, the project is in need of more funding. With a building purchased at 1501 C Street in downtown Sacramento, the organization will provide shelter, care, and a variety of services to terminally ill homeless individuals – something that is desperately needed in Sacramento now as the numbers of homeless men and women increase.
