Art History + Lab : Master in the Spotlight, Vincent Van Gogh

Discover the life and art of Vincent van Gogh with a set of classes that blend history and art-making. Along with discussions of Van Gogh and fellow post-Impressionists, students will compare Gogh's artistic progression with his Dutch compatriots and receive step-by-step instruction for painting in the artists’ manner. Registration closes January 12.

Instructor Michelle Steen is the manager of public programs at the Crocker, where she previously coordinated family and early childhood programs. She holds an MFA in figurative painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and joined the Crocker in 2015 after moving to Sacramento. Previously, she taught private lessons and was an art instructor at the Jewish Community Center in San Francisco. She lives with her husband, one-year-old human, and 12-year-old canine in East Tahoe Park.
