Wish You Were Here Online Class

Presented by Sacramento History Museum at Online

Postcards were popularized in the mid 1800s as a way to communicate using a few words and a picture...sound familiar? Postcards have been compared to the text messages of today.

Originally used as advertisements and tourist souvenirs, postcards transformed when Kodak invented a technique for individuals to put their own photos on a mailable card. The world was flooded with images of historic, unusual and unique events that everyday people photographed.

In this class we will create an original postcard using the Zentangle Method of Drawing. Popular around the world as a relaxing way to draw patterns, Zentangles are intricate, creative works of art that can be done by anyone who can print their name. In about an hour we will take you from simple lines and shapes to signing your name on a beautiful work of art you will want to mail to a friend.

All supplies are included in the cost of the class and can be picked up from the Sacramento History Museum prior to the event:
-5 postcards
-1 black Micron PN pen
-1 Zentangle pencil
-1 Tortillon
-1 White chalk pencil
-1 gold Sakura Gelly Roll pen
-1 Zentangle Method bookmark
