The John Lee Hooker Foundation announces a Blues partnership with the Sacramento Blues Society on June 5 with the Journey Through The Blues Fundraiser.

The event will feature some of the legendary John Lee Hooker’s most famous blues “sons”, Charlie Musselwhite, Rick Estrin, Elvin Bishop, Tommy Castro, Mark Hummel, and daughter and Executive Director of the JLH Foundation, Zakiya Hooker. Northern California-based blues luminaries also include Terrie Odabi, Tia Carroll, Kyle Rowland, Michael Osborn, Steve Erhmann, The Bobby Young Project, Johnny Burgin, June Core, Robert Welsh, Rusty Zinn, Willy Jordan and AJ Crawdaddy. Special thanks to Christopher “Kid” Andersen at Greaseland Studios, and Eric Bianchi with Bianchi Sound.

This two-hour livestream on the Eventbrite platform is fundraising for Blues in Schools Programs, supporting music, art, and education programs for underrepresented and at-risk youth in the San Francisco /Oakland Bay Area, Sacramento, and beyond. Launching fundraising events with the sole purpose of funding the renowned programs, both nonprofits seek to offer space, instruction, and instruments for the classroom. The foundation intends to preserve John Lee Hooker's generous and compassionate spirit and ensure that young people from all walks of life have access to cultural, musical and artistic exposure.
