Judy Knott and Larry Williams are two artists who are "In Favor of Abstraction."
By minimizing or eliminating identifiable subject matter, these artists are encouraging viewers to experience art more directly through references made by shape, line, color, and the textures made through paint application and collage.
Neither artist attempted to coordinate their artwork with the other, but ultimately created a body of works that complement and communicate well within a space.
Williams’s pieces are primarily oils while Knott’s are mixed media. By using abstract imagery, they strive to connect with people at a core level across cultures, genders, and generations. Thus, when asked “What’s going on in this picture?” they are hoping that the viewer will look past identification and delve into feelings when experiencing the art.
