(Socially Distanced) Portrait Painting for Beginners

(Socially Distanced) Portrait Painting for Beginners

Presented by Crocker Art Museum at Crocker Art Museum

Lose yourself in the riveting array of portraits featured in the exhibition For America: Paintings from the National Academy of Design and discover the essence of portrait painting, specifically how to capture facial proportions, consider the setting, and apply acrylic painting techniques. Supplies are included.

Instructor Patris left the education profession in 2004 to pursue her art full time. She has been juried into several national plein air painting competitions, and her work is in many private and public collections. Patris opened her own studio and gallery in Oak Park where she exhibits her artwork along with other local artists and coordinates other art-related events. She teaches art classes on a wide variety of subject matter both in her studio and online.

Note: The Crocker is taking measures to ensure in-person class participants maintain appropriate distance to limit and/or avoid close contact with others. Among other things, we are limiting the number of people in our classes, as well as monitoring and marking the distance between class participants. In-person participants must wear a mask — including those who have already been vaccinated — practice social distancing, and comply with health and safety protocols.
