Mulch Mayhem: Free Mulch from Local Water Providers

Mulch Mayhem: Free Mulch from Local Water Providers

Presented by Regional Water Authority and Local Water Providers at City of Sacramento South Area Corporation Yard and other locations

Free water-saving mulch will be available during Mulch Mayhem events throughout the Sacramento region on Saturday, September 25.

These free events are designed to help local residents get their yards ready for fall planting. Mulch slows evaporation, moderates soil temperature, beautifies landscapes and even controls weeds. As it breaks down, mulch also adds helpful nutrients to the soil.

Sponsored by the Regional Water Authority and local water providers, Mulch Mayhem will take place at the following locations and times (while supplies last):

-City of Sacramento South Area Corporation Yard (5730 24th St. in Sacramento)
Info: (916) 808-5605 or SacWaterWise.com
Trucks and trailers, drive-through only
Reservations required for this event only

-Sacramento Suburban Water District, Enterprise Site (917 Enterprise Drive in Sacramento)
Info: (916) 972-7171 or sswd.org

-Carmichael Water District (7837 Fair Oaks Blvd. in Carmichael)
Info: (916) 483-2452 or carmichaelwd.org

-Sierra College, Overflow Lot (Corner of Rocklin Rd. and El Don Dr. in Rocklin)
Info: (530) 823-4850 or pcwa.net or (916) 791-2663 or sjwd.org
Trucks and trailers, drive-through only

Free mulch is available to customers of hosting water agencies, is limited to one yard per customer (enough to fill a pickup truck) and must be for personal use only. Mulch will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies are gone. Customers are encouraged to bring their own shovels, containers, tarps or other items to cover the mulch and must provide their own way to haul it away. Contact your water provider for details.

The Regional Water Authority (RWA) is a joint powers authority representing 20 water providers serving 2 million people in the greater Sacramento region. Formed in 2001, its primary mission is to help its members protect and enhance the reliability, availability, affordability and quality of water resources.
